Univar Solutions Beauty & Personal Care formulators have reimagined the classic red lip with an award-winning innovation, Irresistible Satin Lip Cream, created for the global beauty campaign YOU. The creamy, long-lasting lip color formula garnered first place recognition in the Color Cosmetics category at the Cosmetics & Toiletries 2022 Allē Awards in NYC.
Interest and demand for long-wear and transfer color cosmetics, especially lip color, has grown. According to Paris-based formulateur Monika Ruiz Golcher, formulating these products is not easy and there are many factors to take into account both in the formulation standpoint as well in consumer wear perception. "What makes the Irresistible Satin Lip Cream formula unique is that it combines different attributes to give a full consumer experience," said Ruiz Golcher. "Our formula achieves an attractive visual with luxe texture, and is easy to apply and comfortable to wear all day. We were able to deliver long-lasting color performance without compromising the sensoriality and comfort of the product, resulting in a bold lip cosmetic that has a fun, vibrant red poppy color and beautiful satin effect."
Univar Solutions' diverse portfolio, including more natural and sustainable offerings, made it possible to choose the right ingredients that hit the mark on different product attributes, Ruiz Golcher noted. To support more sustainable formulation, "we were able to obtain the consistency and performance we were looking for while having a low water content (32%) and using a cold process," she said.
The Irresistible Satin Lip Cream formulation:
