Dibutyl Maleate (DBM)is a clear, virtually colourless liquid with an ester-like odor. It is miscible with many common organic solvents and only slightly miscible with water. Dibutyl Maleate (DBM) is a suitable intermediate for use in the production of paints and adhesives, copolymers and films where it is used as a comonomer in vinyl and acrylic emulsion polymerization. This product is also used in organic synthesis, like the production of derivatives of succinic acid.
