N-Octylamine is a colorless to yellow liquid with a faint, ammonia-like odor. It is classified as a fatty alkyl primary amine and is used as a building block for biocides that are utilized in marine coating and wood coating formulations. It is also used as a corrosion inhibitor in lubricants and greases. Octylamine is also used as a raw material in cationic and amphoteric surfactants.
